About Us

From our modest beginning as a family business in Hayward in 1970, to our relocation to Pleasanton in 1988, Silmar Flooring has maintained a strong sense of family values throughout the years. David Silva and his father, Ernie Silva founded the company in 1970. Since then, David has been the driving force behind Silmar Flooring. He has built the company from the ground up, relying on his hard work and desire to be a competitive force in the floor covering industry. He successfully built the company with a steadfast adherence to ethical business practices, and 50+ years of knowledge in the floor covering industry. David primarily works within the Commercial and Hotel/Hospitality side of the business. His wife, Eileen Silva, heads the Residential side of the business, and his son, Christopher Silva works on both Commercial & Residential jobs.

Silmar Flooring has to its credit many successful commercial projects with well-known hotels, gaming casinos, senior living facilities, hospitals, medical offices, large and small office buildings, main street commercial, and wineries. Our installation crews are professional, courteous and very experienced in the installation of the most elaborate flooring designs in carpeting, vinyl sheet and plank/tile, ceramic/porcelain tile, hardwood, waterproof core, and laminate. Our installers are experts in their craft and take pride in their workmanship and service. Silmar also keeps up to date with the latest in flooring trends, products, and installation techniques. Waterproof Core (WPC/SPC): New flooring product category, products are similar to vinyl plank and laminate flooring. This floor is a floating installation like laminate, while being 100% waterproof.

Vinyl Sheet and Plank/Tile: Sheet Vinyl has amazing visuals from Armstrong and Mannington, with simple installation with loose lay backings. Vinyl Plank and tile have amazing visuals, ranging from residential to heavy duty commercial.

Carpet: New and exciting styles and patterns in Stanton, Shaw, Tuftex California, & Dixie carpet mills. Come see new Pet Protect carpet by Stainmaster in all the brands.

Tile: Innovative styling in porcelain tile by Arizona Tile, MSI, All Natural Tile & Stone, & Dal Tile for residential kitchen, bath, entry, fireplace, etc. Mostly porcelain products are used in today’s market.
